Emmys 2013: Lea Michele Absent at Show, Misses Cory Monteith Tribute

UPDATE: Sadly, we saw no sign of Lea Michele (Rachel) at the 2013 Emmy Awards. Though the Glee star had been reported to be planning to attend, she wasn't seen anywhere on the red carpet, and we saw no signs of of her sitting in the audience during the telecast. Lea also did not tweet about going to the show, so it seems safe to say that she wasn't there.

In addition, none of her Glee co-stars, other than Jane Lynch (Sue) — who was nominated for an award and also presented a heartwarming tribute to Cory during the show — showed up, either. Of course, Glee's relative lack of nominations could be part of the reason why. But whatever the case, the audience at the 2013 Emmys was for the most part Glee-free.

Original story: It will be an emotional weekend for
Glee fans, as the late Cory Monteith (Finn) will be remembered at the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday. But will Lea Michele attend the ceremony, or will it be too tough for her?

The upcoming Emmy Awards show will pay special tribute to five TV personalities who past away this year, and Cory will be one of them. We’ve known that Glee star Jane Lynch will be speaking about Cory during the tribute, but Lea reportedly will participate in it as well.

“Lea is expected to appear at the 2013 Emmy Awards this weekend alongside some of her Glee co-stars for a tribute to Cory,” reports Just Jared. So it sounds like Lea and some other Glee co-stars may be joining Jane onstage.

Although Lea was nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy following the show’s first season in 2010, she is not nominated this year, and the show isn’t nominated for Best Comedy. So she wouldn’t necessarily need to attend the awards show. Glee has earned four nominations this year, including one for Jane for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

But we can understand why Lea would want to be at the show to pay tribute to Cory. In fact, this reminds us of the 2013 Teen Choice Awards last month, which she attended and tearfully thanked her fans for their “love and support.” Now, we’re looking forward to the Emmys to hear Cory’s loved ones share their memories of him.
