THIS Guy Tops Empire’s “Sexiest Movie Star” List, Beating Ryan Gosling

Some people might consider it a mystery as to how this actor beat out The Gos to be named the sexiest man in Hollywood.

Sherlock and Star Trek Into Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch has been named the Sexiest Movie Star by British magazine Empire. Rejoice, Cumberbabes! The magazine has released its rankings of the 50 hottest male and female film stars, as voted on by readers of

And who nabbed the top female slot? It's clear that a lot of muggles were voting, as that honor went to Hermione Granger herself, Emma Watson.

Both top choices are somewhat surprising. Benedict isn't quite an A-list star just yet, and he's not typically seen as one Hollywood's elite hunks, although he clearly has a small group of extremely devoted fans. And Emma is only starting to build a post-Harry Potter film career, having recently starred in The Bling Ring.

Both stars beat out some seriously formidable competition to claim their titles. Coming in at second place for the guys was Thor star Tom Hiddleston, followed by Man of Steel's Henry Cavill at number three, and the always-yummers Ryan Gosling at a criminally low number four.

Other notable names on the list of hunks: Robert Pattinson at seven, Bradley Cooper at 10, Channing Tatum at 23, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt at 27.

Meanwhile, Emma beat out runner-up Scarlett Johansson, The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence at three, and Twilight's Kristen Stewart at four. Also on the list are Mila Kunis at 7 and new mom Megan Fox at 11.

But there were plenty of startling omissions as well. Like, how the heck did Selena Gomez not make the list at all?!

So do you agree with Empire's choices, or do you disagree with the picks so much that you'll now refer to this as "The List That Must Not Be Named"? Let us know!
