Empire Season 2 is well underway. The Lyons are at war, there are lots of new characters in play, the feds are after the Empire — basically, a lot is going down. While the Vernon story basically resolved this week, showrunner Ilene Chalkin tells Variety the story of Bunkie's murder "lives on." After all, not everyone even knows Lucious killed him, yet, and you know that will upset his family if they ever learn the truth.

Watch out for Mimi. Marisa Tomei's character will continue to play a big role in the first half of the season, culminating in some major action in the midseason finale. And guys? There's more to this woman than meets the eye: "Mimi might not be exactly who or what she appears to be. I think you’ll never see it coming, what it actually turns out to be."

Hakeem's new love. It doesn't take a genius to realize Hakeem liked the new girl he spotted in a bar this week for more than her singing voice, and there definitely is a potential romance there — but don't expect the typical Hakeem shenanigans. "It amounts to a different experience and a different relationship for Hakeem," says Ilene.

Thirsty is Lucious' right hand man. While actor Andre Royo doesn't spill much about what to expect from his lawyer character going forward, he did tease this to The Hollywood Reporter: "t I just know that I'm Luscious's right-hand man and I'm planning on staying that way and not ending up like Vernon."

Bye, bye, Prosecutor Ford.
In case you're wondering: Yes, that federal prosecutor has been scared away by finding a dead body in her car. As Ilene puts it: "This is the last we’ll see of Prosecutor Ford."
