Did Juan Pablo Galavis’s Anti-Gay Remarks Derail The Bachelor Ratings?

The Bachelor has been so much fun this season, with great girls going on pretty entertaining dates with a really gorgeous guy. But while it’s been fun so far, there’s no denying that we were wondering if Juan Pablo Galavis’s anti-gay comments this past weekend would be enough to turn off viewers. While the premiere was the strongest in three years, the second week definitely lagged, and the Bachelor: Love Stories special on January 19 tanked.

So, what of Season 18 Episode 3? According to Zap2It TV by the Numbers, the numbers for this week didn’t drop by much. The show got a 2.3 rating with a 6 rating share score, pulling in 7.82 million viewers. How close was this to the previous week? Umm, nearly exactly the same.

While neither week got thrilling numbers, this week was only behind by a handful: 7.82 vs. January 13’s 7.88 million. The premiere pulled in a higher rating with 2.7, but no episode has broken the 8.5 million mark, and the change definitely wasn’t significant.

So, what does this mean? Either viewers separate Juan Pablo’s off-screen persona from his on-screen love journey, or they didn’t mind — or hear about — his homophobic remarks. It’s definitely entertaining to watch Juan Pablo romance the ladies each week, and interesting that his ratings don’t change a lot from week to week.

Are you surprised that Juan Pablo’s ratings didn’t change, or that they’re still pretty low? Share your thoughts on the matter below!
