Grey’s Anatomy’s Eric Dane Hypes “Pretty Damn Cool” New Show, TNT’s The Last Ship
Missing McSteamy? The only correct answer is "of course," which is why we’re super stoked that Grey’s Anatomy’s Eric Dane (Mark Sloan) is returning to our TVs next summer on TNT’s brand new show, The Last Ship.
According to TV Guide, Eric’s turning in his scrubs for Navy fatigues as he takes on the role of Navy Captain Tom Chandler, who "helps rescue humanity after an infectious disease kills most of the world’s population."
Yikes! Not that a Grey’s alum isn’t fully prepared to deal with crazy infectious diseases — whatever’s plaguing the nation, Eric’s run into it before as Sloan at the hospital that is now his namesake.
What he is conquering for the first time, however? Filming on a real $4 million naval destroyer in San Diego, where he’s facing acting challenges he’s never met before.
"There's a scene where I try to start my ship by holding a busted fuse in place, knowing that a huge electrical current is going to surge through my body," Eric said. "I end up getting blown back 10 feet into a wall, but it made me feel pretty damn cool."
No matter what kind of special effects are involved, if McSteamy’s playing a man in uniform, we’re totally in. We’ll try not to cry every time his presence reminds us that — where our favorite fictional, Seattle-based hospital’s concerned — he’s no longer with us. RIP!
