Bachelorette 2014’s Eric Hill Passes Away After Tragic Paragliding Accident

UPDATE 4/23 11:14 a.m.: Eric's sister Karen Tracy announced this morning that her brother had passed away.

"Eric shared his final journey with us this morning as all his immediate family were able to be at his side when he passed away," she wrote. "Thank you to all of your love and support and prayers and fasting. It was amazing to be with so many of his friends and family yesterday in the hospital who came to express their love for Eric. He gave us such a gift of a life fully lived and fully shared, and allowed us all to be a part of his last adventure here on earth. It is hard to think of life without his bright spark, but we know he is on the new adventures. We look forward to carrying on his legacy here and greeting him joyfully again someday. I love you so much, little brother!"

Our thoughts and prayers are with Eric's family at this time.

UPDATE 4/22 12:28 p.m.:
According to a friend of Eric's (relayed by Reality Steve), he's currently in a medically induced coma and is fighting for his life. His friends have taken to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to ask for prayers for Eric. From a TV standpoint, this definitely brings up something The Bachelorette producers have never had to deal with before.

For those of you who have asked (spoiler ahead), this did not happen during show filming, as Andi is currently filming Season 10 Hometown Dates and Eric is not part of that.

Bachelor Nation, send your prayers over to The Bachelorette Season 10 contestant Eric Hill, who was reportedly injured in a paragliding accident on Easter Sunday in Utah.

Eric is one of the bachelors on Andi Dorfman's upcoming season, which premieres on May 19. According to spoilers, he actually gets the first one-on-one date with Andi.

On April 21, Reality Steve tweeted the scary news about Eric, directing fans to Eric's sister's Facebook page, where she wrote on April 20, "I know I don't post much, but if you happen to read this, please pray for my brother. He's in critical condition after a paragliding accident at Point of the Mountain in Draper, UT."

KUTV had more details on the crash, although they didn't have the name of the paraglider. They just said the man was paragliding with friends near Point of the Mountain in Draper around 3 p.m. on Sunday, when the canopy collapsed 15 to 20 feet from land, sending the victim crashing into the mountainside. UFA Battalion Chief Brian Anderton told the news station, "It doesn't seem like he fell an extremely long distance, but the velocity that he went into the hillside was enough to cause some trauma."

He was found unconscious but breathing, and was transported via medical helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital. He was listed in critical condition with possible head trauma.
