The Walking Dead Escape Tour — Is It Coming to a City Near You?

The Walking Dead fans are the best, but our brains must already be half-eaten — why else would we pay good money to either 1) be chased by “zombies” through an “evacuation zone” obstacle course, 2) be zombie chasers ourselves, or 3) just watch others be chased? If there are advanced alien species looking down at us, they must be shaking their heads.

The Walking Dead Escape does sound like a blast, though, and it was such a hit at San Diego Comic Con that it’s now traveling the country with a full 2014 tour.

“It’s a fun way to spend the afternoon, especially if you’re a big Walking Dead fan,” comic book writer/AMC show executive producer Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s an experience unlike anywhere else. You can live the kind of things you see in the comics and show and go to a place and get chased by zombies. Or go to a place and watch your friends get chased by zombies. And nobody gets eaten, which is the best of both worlds!”

Here are the current locations for The Walking Dead Escape Tour, but you should visit the site and join the mailing list to see if they add places:

• Baton Rouge, LA — April 24, at Baton Rouge River Center Arena

• Houston, TX — April 26 at Reliant Stadium

• Miami, FL — May 3 at Sun Life Stadium

• Tampa, FL — May 10 at USF Sun Dome

• Jacksonville, FL — May 17 at EverBank Field

• New Orleans, LA — May 24 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome

• Atlanta, GA — May 31 at Philips Arena

• San Diego, CA — July 25 and 26 at Petco Park surrounding Comic Con 2014

Here are the ticket types listed on the site:

Survivor: “Navigate the course and avoid the undead. 35-50 minutes of Walking Dead Madness! Access to the after-party. Enjoy a cool beer after your run... if you survive.” Cost: $75 (but there’s a military discount.)

Walker: “Join the undead horde and stalk the course for 2.5 hours as an official The Walking Dead Escape Walker. As a Walker, you will receive a pro make up session and Walker training. Access to the after-party where people WILL want to take pictures of and with you. Walkers need to arrive 2 hours before their selected course time.” Cost: $95

VIP: “VIP package includes option to run course twice – first as a Survivor and then a Walker, VIP event t-shirt, VIP-only lounge, and exclusive behind the scenes access!” Cost: $150

Spectator: “Full access to all spectator areas throughout the course, the after-party, and the merch area. Bring your camera because you're going to get some great pics!” Cost: $20

Head here for more details. Have you been to one of these? Would you go if it came near you? Hopefully they add more locations outside the South!

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
