Eva Green is giving us the heebie-jeebies on Showtime’s Penny Dreadful every Sunday night as Vanessa Ives, but she looked anything but frightful when rocking the red carpet at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The 33-year-old actress strutted her stuff on May 17 at the star-studded premiere of her new film, The Salvation.

The former Camelot star walked down the red carpet wearing a deep red gown featuring a jewel-embellished chest with dramatic sleeve trails — and she even showed the sleeves off by raising her arms in the air. With her hair parted to the side and a gorgeous pair of high heels, Eva was giving us all kinds of gothic chic alongside The Salvation co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

While The Salvation will be released in Denmark later this year, we will be able to see Eva put her acting chops to the test in the Sin City sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in August 2014. For now, though, we can see Eva star alongside Josh Hartnett in Penny Dreadful — just let it be known that given the creepy things going on, you might need a hand to hold.

What do you think about Eva’s dramatic red gown? Hit the comments and sound off!

Penny Dreadful airs Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
