Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada has moved on from ex-husband Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson to pro baseball player Carl Crawford, who has just been revealed as the father of her unborn baby! Evelyn will confirm the news tonight (December 9) in a pre-taped interview on OMG! Insider, dishing all about her surprise pregnancy, her ball-playing baby daddy, and whether or not she'll say "I do" (again).
But first, let's get to know a little more about Carl, starting with this dude's financial status. It's no secret that raising a baby in today's day and age is a huge financial burden, but thankfully Carl has plenty of extra pennies in his bank account thanks to the $142 million seven-year contract he signed with the Boston Red Sox back in 2010!
As of June 2013, one year since being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the 32-year-old outfielder's annual earnings totaled $20 million, making him the No. 72 highest-paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes — up from No. 98 in 2012. And according to Celebrity Net Worth, his total assets are somewhere in the ballpark (see what we did there?) of $45 million.
But money doesn't make the man, and when it comes to character Carl seems to be a genuinely good guy. After losing two straight games to the Red Sox back in August, Carl surprised reporters when he complimented them at the end of the series.
"They've got a good team," he said. "You're going to have to come out there and hit better. They got good pitching over there. We've got to make the adjustments at the plate and try to be better if we face them again."
It seems like Carl's only shortcoming is his propensity for injury — this past season he missed a full month thanks to a pulled hamstring and in 2012 he underwent reconstructive elbow surgery. Let's hope this guy stays healthy — he's about to have a lot more responsibilities on his plate when the baby comes in March!
