Fantasia Barrino Denies Claims She’s Suicidal

In a sad start to the new year, reports circulated yesterday (January 2) that Fantasia Barrino was suicidal. The American Idol Season 3 winner previously attempted to take her own life in August 2010 by overdosing on prescription medication. Thankfully, however, Fantasia says she has put those dark days behind her.

To address this latest slew of nasty rumors, Fantasia headed to her Instagram, where she posted a screenshot of some of the headlines. “Fantasia Barrino is Suicidal?” reads one. “Fantasia Barrino Suicide Rumors,” begins another. Thankfully, the 29-year-old singer decided to simply laugh off the disturbing reports.

Lol!!! Who keeps this stuff Going??,” she captioned the screenshot. “It’s becoming a lil questionable lord lord lord.”

Fantasia’s very public, very messy breakup with boyfriend and married man, Antwaun Cook, helped fuel rumors she was thinking of ending her life.

“It’s almost been a year and this is still going on. Lol!! He and I are not together,” Fantasia wrote January 2. “I’m not going anywhere so stop trying to make me dead.. Lmao!!! I’m just getting started.”

That is such a relief! Beside her adorable two-year-old son Dallas and 11-year-old daughter Zion, Fantasia seems to have a lot going for her right now. She’s appeared on Broadway and been nominated for four 2014 Grammys including Best R&B Song for “Without Me” featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott.

So you just keep on laughing at the haters, Fantasia! Nobody needs that kind of drama.
