The first time we watched the video of Jay Z and Solange facing off in an elevator at The Standard Hotel after the 2014 Met Gala, two thoughts ran through our minds: First, ouch! Second, somebody made a pretty penny off this tape.

Just a couple of days after the footage first surfaced we finally have a number on how much that particular piece of tape went for. Any guesses? We’re talking a video that garnered an audience of millions and inspired nearly as many memes.

Page Six reports the final price tag on the Jay Z, Solange, Beyoncé video came in at a cool $250,000. That’s pretty good money for three minutes of footage, dontcha think?

A source adds, “This was being shopped for five days to the highest bidder.” The Standard has reportedly hired a Hollywood lawyer, Marty Singer, to track down who was responsible for shopping the tape around. “There are only a handful of people who’d have access to that tape,” a source tells Page Six.

We suggest looking for the person who just quit and bought a giant yacht.

Are you surprised by the price the video brought in? Thought it was worth more? Tell us!
