“I've never said this publicly before, but I think I knew somewhere in the back of my mind that I wasn't 100 percent sure I should have gotten engaged to Roberto,” Ali reveals. WOW. Although the two had a great love affair on the show, with Ali bopping between Roberto and Frank as her favorite throughout the season, we’ve always believed that it was Frank she really wanted in the end.
Each week, Ali talks about how Des stands close to Chris Siegfried at every opportunity, and Season 6 fans know that Ali did the same thing with Frank and Roberto. So, why is she now saying that she shoulda passed on Robertos romantic proposal?
I didn't really know him then, Ali elaborates. All I knew is that I was falling in love, swept off my feet in Tahiti, and believed in my heart that I would be ready to get married after some time passed. And in my case, as time passed, it didn't work.
Would Des feel the same way if one of her remaining two guys were to propose to her like all she needs is time? After the July 29 episode, we highly doubt she could even get there. And, Ali continues, she probably shouldnt.

When you ask someone to marry you, you should be so certain that you want to be with that person for the rest of your life that you'd be willing to marry them on the spot, Ali says, summing up pretty much exactly how Des felt about Brooks before he dumped her. But Brooks isnt alone in feeling like a proposal is out of the question at this point.
Ali explains that it all comes down to the barely 48 hours couples spend together up until this point. That's just not ever the case on this show. People basically get engaged as strangers. A few lucky couples find that after the show, they really are right for each other, but the majority realize they aren't. Are the couples who made it still together because they tried harder? Absolutely not. They made it because they were lucky enough to meet their match on the show.
