Fifty Shades of Grey Cast: 3 Reasons Ian Somerhalder Should Have Been Christian Grey
It's official: The Fifty Shades of Grey movie has found its Christian Grey, and it's not The Vampire Diariesstar Ian Somerhalder. Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam snagged the role, and while we're fans of Charlie's handsome face and notable acting skills, we can't help but think that Ian would have been a better fit, even if he really was never in the running.
Here are three reasons we wish Ian had been given a shot at this big role.
1. He looks the part. Christian is supposed to be, essentially, tall, dark, and handsome. Sound like someone you know? He's also supposed to have "smoldering" grey eyes, and we all know that Ian's eyes are some of the best in Hollywood. Sure, we’re not quite sure how Ian would look with copper hair, but it’s not like Christian’s hair color is that essential to the plot, right?
2. He has practice playing dark. Christian is a charmer with a dark streak — a character type Ian has more than proved he can knock out of the park on The Vampire Diaries. Sexy, seductive, and dangerous? Yeah, there's no question Ian could have handled this role with ease.
3. He's ready for the big leagues. We don't want Ian leaving our TV screens anytime soon, but this rising star is more than ready to bring his talent — and hotness — to a blockbuster. The world deserves to see his handsome mug in all its glory on the big screen. While Fifty Shades of Grey and Ian apparently weren't meant to be, we hope we'll see him break out with a huge hit film sometime soon.
