If you're fit to be tied that Robert Pattinson isn't playing Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film, it looks like you have one person to blame.

Yahoo OMG! is reporting that Robert Pattinson was considering taking the role until ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart told him not to.

Rob was reportedly approached by the film's production company and asked to play the lead role in the film. Rumor has it that Rob then turned to Kristen and asked her whether he should take it.

"Kristen told him Fifty Shades would be a disaster for him," a source says. "Kristen told him that creatively, he shouldn't do it, but if it's about fame and money, he should."

"She told him he had to make the choice between the two, but warned that it would stick with him," the source adds. "He's haunted by Twilight and being too identified with that role  taking Fifty Shades would mean a worse label for the rest of his career."

It sounds like Rob really took Kristen's advice to heart, even though his team reportedly wanted him to play the part, and author E.L. James is said to have wanted him as well.

"Rob admires Kristen, and if she had said 'go for it,' he would seriously have swung his heavy schedule around to make it work," claims the insider. "He pushed [the film] away after Kristen's advice, even though his manager was very much for it. His family didn't interfere, but he knew his mum wouldn't like it either."

Meanwhile, it sounds like Rob and Kristen are currently on good terms, despite being on rocky footing immediately after their split earlier this year. "They're good friends and still leaning on each other and talking every day," adds the source.

Wow! So they're still talking every day? We wonder if this perhaps means that we could have another Robsten romance on our hands one of these days.

At any rate, current Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan apparently owes a big thank you to Kristen Stewart.

Should Rob have taken the part, or did he and Kristen make the right choice?
