Update (November 20, 2013):

The print version of Entertainment Weekly's Fifty Shades issue reveals more insights from the cast. Dakota Johnson, for example, reveals that she's totally fine stepping into Anastasia's high heels (and her other, more NSFW accoutrement). "I'm not afraid of this story," she tells the mag. "I understand this girl, and I get it."

But she's not eager for her famous parents — actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith — to see the finish result. "I'm obviously not going to invite them to take part in this experience … I don't want movies of theirs where they do things like this. Why would you want to watch that?"

Good call, D — you'll have more "family-friendly" material after Fifty Shades!

Original story (November 13, 2013):

Fifty Shades of Grey fans, it’s actually becoming real: Entertainment Weekly is showing us Christian and Ana for the first time in their November 22 issue.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson pose for a series of their first ever released in-character photos, featuring Dakota’s newly brunette hair, which she dyed for the role of Anastasia Steele.

And besides just dying her hair, Dakota’s been prepping for the role in other ways — like hitting the gym so she can look her best in the film’s sex scenes, despite the fact that she’s never really worked out regularly before.

“Obviously, I want to look good naked,” Dakota said. “I totally understand now why people exercise, because it kind of feels f—ing awesome.”

Jamie’s less concerned about the sex scenes, though, mentioning he’s “not shocked” by them. “It’s essential to tell the story,” he said. “I can’t believe films that don’t invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me.”

Hopefully, these first character photos will help tide you over the film’s February 2015 release —  it’s been pushed back from its original August 2014 premiere date before the casting shake-up.
