The Originals Films at Creepy Abandoned Mental Hospital (VIDEO)
The Originals has its share of creep-tastic settings, but it sounds like it’s about to out-do itself. Where will the supernatural series be filming next? Read on to find out!
The cast and crew of The Originals have discovered a fantastic new filming location: an abandoned mental health hospital, Milledgeville Central State Hospital. According to WMAZ, the hospital was once the largest of its kind in the state, hitting peak capacity in the 1960s at around 12,000 patients. It shut its doors in 2010.
And now The Originals has opened them again for filming! What might the show be using the setting for? It’s hard to imagine, given that filming happens well ahead of airing schedule, but we have a few ideas. There’s the possibility that the setting will be used as what it actually is: a mental health hospital. Perhaps, there’s an abandoned asylum in the show’s fictional interpretation of New Orleans that we don’t know about?
So far, much of the decrepit buildings have been seen in relation to the floundering werewolf population in the area. Could this be a clue to Hayley’s familial past? Or, perhaps, it is related to Klaus’ werewolf kin, who we recently discovered hail from New Orleans. All we’re saying is we wouldn’t be surprised if Klaus’ family have a history of mental illness...
What do you think the mental hospital will be used for? Share your theories in the comments below!
The Originals airs on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
