Bachelorette 2013 Finale: Desiree Hartsock Eliminates Drew Kenney

All good things must come to an end, and so was the case during tonight’s conclusion to the Season 9 Bachelorette finale. Devastated and emotionally drained after July 29’s heartbreaker of a start, Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock suffered through the most awkward Rose Ceremony in history where she gave both Chris Siegfried and Drew Kenney a pity rose.

However, soon after and before any of the guys got to meet her family, an already emotionally raw Des took Drew aside and tearfully confessed that she just didn’t see them together. “I didn’t see this happening,” he said. “I guess I have to thank you for being honest. I don’t know, I don’t know...” As if there wasn’t already enough heartbreak in this episode, now Drew has to fight back tears as he says incredibly sweet things like “You don’t have to be sorry for not being in love with me.” We are running out of Kleenex.

Let’s take a moment and reflect on the poreless perfection that Drew spent the season showing us. From the moment he stepped out of the limo during the premiere and forgot his own name, we knew Drew had a soft, squishy heart beneath a hard, chiseled chest.

Des herself was so impressed she handed over a First Impression Rose to the 28-year-old Arizona model during the Season 9 premiere. We know what was on your mind, girlfriend, and we approve.

Drew spent the following weeks enchanting Des with his open heart, warm smile, and frequent hugs. They walked Germany’s cobblestoned streets. They made out in Barcelona’s back alleys. They giggled within Antigua's fantasy suites. But sadly, the dream of a Des and Drew wedding has melted like a Ken doll in the Arizona sun.
