Have you ever wondered what Kandi Burruss's first name is short for? After all, the cute and sweet moniker has to be a nickname, right? Wrong. After a Twitter exchange, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed that Kandi isn't short for anything — it's just the name Mama Joyce gave her!
When one of her followers wondered if it was short for Candace, making it clear that she feels that Candace is a "kick ass name," Kandi responded, "no. My real name is Kandi."
Later, another one of her fans made sure that Kandi didn't misunderstand the question, writing, "your REAL name on your birth certificate is Kandi?," to which Kandi simply replied, "yes."
Get with the program, people — the woman's name is Kandi!
Still, if you do a Google search on Kandi's past, there are countless sources claiming that her real full name is Kandrisaria Helen Burruss. We're not sure where Kandrisaria came from — it almost seems to weird to make up — but Kandi insists that she's always been Kandi and nothing but Kandi, and we see no reason for her to lie. In fact, Kandi has even noted that it bothers her when people assume her name is short for something else.
With a name like that, we're not surprised that she decided to own it instead of opting for a stage name. Not only is it fun and memorable, but Kandi suits her personality perfectly! Everybody loves candy, and we can say the same thing for Ms. Burruss.
