Pretty Little Liars: Five Characters We Need to See in Season 5

It wouldn't be Pretty Little Liars without the cast of supporting characters, waiting in the Rosewood wings, ready to come into play and to fill in another piece of the "A" puzzle — or at least make us ask new questions. With Ali's return to Rosewood in the upcoming season, the setting and supporting characters seem more important than ever to this story. Which five characters do we need to see in Season 5?

Jason DiLaurentis. The DiLaurentis family is blowing up. Mrs. D. has been murdered. Ali is back from the dead. And Mr. D. is returning to Rosewood to reunite with the daughter he'd never thought he'd see again. But, out of the all of the DiLaurentis family dynamics, the one we're most excited to see play out is the one between Alison and her big brother, Jason. These two have always had a tough relationship, but Jason was desperate to find out what happened to Ali after her alleged murder and we think that counts for something. We can't help but want to root for this guy, especially because he's Spencer's half-brother, too, and we can't wait to see what this reunion looks like.

Will he be back?: Jason will appear in the second episode of the season.

Shana. Shana threw us (and the Liars) a curveball when she confessed to Emily that she came to Rosewood and got close to Jenna per Ali's request. Apparently, Shana and Jenna were childhood friends who met when Ali was visiting her grandmother. With Jenna's eye condition worsening and Ali back in town, we're curious to see if Shana comes back to Pennsylvania to see both or one of them.

Will she be back?: Unknown

Jenna Marshall. Speaking of Jenna, what has she been up to since her almost-drowning? What does she think of Ali's miraculous return from the dead? And how much, if anything, did she know about Ali's disappearance? All questions we want answered. Jenna has been an important part of this show from the beginning and, as we venture further into what feel like the final chapters of this story, we want her to be a part of it.

Will she be back?: Jenna is set to appear in both the fifth and ninth episodes of the season.

Wren Kingston. Who wouldn't want this handsome devil (emphasis potentially on the devil) on their TV screens? Like Jenna, Wren is a character around whom we have a lot of questions. Just before he made his last appearance in Season 4, Episode 10, the show dropped a lot of hints that he knew much more than we'd ever suspected about Red Coat and the "A" game. Since, he's gone to hide out in London, but no one can stay away from Rosewood for long, right?

Will he be back?: Unknown

Noel Kahn. Frankly, the character of Noel Kahn has always seemed like a big jerk, but the Season 4 finale showed a different side to Noel that doesn't let us write this character off as easily as we once did. Why is Noel helping Ali? Is it connected to the help he gave Maya before she died? And why does he seem to hate the Liars so much? Come back, Noel Kahn, and we promise to hold our judgment until you've gotten at least a few scenes in.

Will he be back?: Noel will be in the Season 5 premiere.
