Five Sports The Docs Should Have Played on Grey’s Anatomy Season 8, Episode 7

After last week's Season 8, Episode 7 "Put Me In, Coach," of Grey's Anatomy, we're in a sporting mindset, so we're speculating on other games the docs could play (and hopefully play better). All those long hours at the hospital doing things like, oh, we don't know, saving lives shouldn't prevent the surgeons from having fun, right?

It seems like we see our favorite surgeons in a flat-out sprint every single episode — usually because a patient flat-lines or, we don't know, a Chief Resident sends the wrong patient to the OR or something. So we're betting they've gotten pretty good at running. Just don't add hurdles to the mix, because we haven't seen them jumping yet, and we're not optimistic.

As we saw a couple weeks ago, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) sure knows how to throw a punch. And he's certainly not the only one. Alex (Justin Chambers), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), and Mark (Eric Dane) have all doled out knuckle sandwiches. So let's see these pugilists put their fists to good use in a fair and sportsman-like way!

Sure, we can imagine burly dudes like Mark and Owen on the gridiron, but we'd bet that Cristina (Sandra Oh) would be a pretty intimidating linebacker ... assuming she and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) don't lie down in the end zone for some kvetching and cloud-watching. And April (Sarah Drew)? Well, she probably couldn't take a tackle, so maybe she'd be the kicker.

Synchronized swimming
Should Grey's Anatomy reach a fourteenth season, we might see a novelty episode in which the surgeons form a water ballet team. C'mon, you know you want to see the manly men doing aquatic pirouettes and pliés in perfect unison with the utmost grace. But, uh, Meredith has a history of not swimming when she needs to, so let's leave her topside.

Okay, you'll really know that Grey's has jumped the shark when you see the docs curl. Admittedly, we don't know a whole lot about the sport, and we're sure it's perfectly respectable, but c'mon ... sliding heavy stones down a sheet of ice? It just looks kinda silly. Still, we know a certain hospital with long hallways...
