Just three weeks before announcing his separation, Tarek underwent a cancer screening test. Luckily, the host, who got surgery to remove tumors from his thyroid and lymph nodes a couple years ago, was all clear this time around.

Though the incident sounded pretty scary — from the alleged suicide threats to police confiscation of multiple weapons — the pair said in a statement this was all in “an abundance of caution.” In fact, they claim there was no violence and no charges were ever filed.

Orange County law enforcement received a call in May 2016 concerning a “possibly suicidal male with a gun,” according to TMZ-obtained police reports. Apparently, Tarek had grabbed a gun from his safe, ran out of his property, and escaped down a hiking trail. Christina was also spotted “shaking and crying.”

When police helicopters caught up to Tarek following the alarming 911 call, he told them he’d only brought a gun along to use on mountain lions and rattlesnakes, in the hope of “blow[ing] off some steam.” However, when police returned to the family home, they reportedly confiscated five weapons, including an AR-15.

It was shocking enough for fans to find out adorable HGTV couple Tarek and Christina El Moussa had called it quits.
