Glee’s The Fox vs. Gangnam Style vs. Call Me Maybe: Which Viral Hit Is Best?

We of course love it when Glee covers tunes by seasoned musicians or from smash-hit Broadway musicals. However, there’s something especially fun about getting to see the show perform a surprise viral hit, like last week’s “The Fox.” But how does it compare to previous viral-song covers?

We didn’t expect to like Glee’s take on “The Fox” all that much in Season 5, Episode 7: “Puppet Master,” since the original is pretty silly. Still, we can’t stop watching Glee’s puppet-filled version of the peppy, slightly nonsensical tune. If anyone can do a better “a-hee, a-hee, a-hee” than Starchild (Adam Lambert), we haven’t heard it.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the show has tackled a goofy YouTube hit. Indeed, New Directions felt so confident about their take on Psy’s “Gangnam Style” that the group went with it at Sectionals last season. Then again, the New Ds didn’t do so hot at Sectionals, but we don’t blame Tina’s top-notch take on the tune. She is one sexy lay-day when performing this song.

And then there’s the biggest song of 2012, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” which came out of nowhere to propel CRJ to stardom. Glee threw a wish in a well and did this one in Season 4’s “The New Rachel” as the kids competed to be the club’s new head honcho. Suffice to say, before this performance came into our lives, we missed it so bad, we missed it so, so bad.

But which of these three did you like the most? Give a quick listen to the three best viral-video song performances in Glee’s history (no offense, Rebecca Black) and place your votes. May the best fluke win.

I loved them all.

Uh... not my favorites.
