Teresa and Joe have four kids: Gia, born in 2001; Gabriella, born in 2003; Milania, born in 2005; and Audriana, born in 2009. And it sounds like 12-year-old Gia is the only one who understands anything about what's going on.
"I have to be strong for my kids," Teresa tells In Touch, adding that her top priority is to make sure her kids feel safe.
"Especially Gia," Teresa continues. "She's the only one who knows anything is going on, so I do everything I can to make her feel comfortable."
"The little ones know nothing," Teresa adds to Star. "Gia knows a bit... If she has more questions, I will answer them. I would rather her ask us than hear things from people who do not know us or the situation."
Teresa has hired legal coach and crisis manager Wendy Feldman, who recommends that in a crisis, children need to know they have their parents' love.
That is not a problem, according to Teresa. "I tell them a million times a day — they know!" she quips. "I want the kids to enjoy their childhood. And to be the best mom I can be."
This is a very tough situation for any family to endure, but it sounds like Teresa is making the best of it.
