American Horror Story: Freak Show — Ryan Murphy Dishes on Michael Chiklis’s Role

We're still months away from American Horror Story: Freak Show — the fourth seasons of FX's anthology frightfest — but already we're learning of the saga's love triangle.

At the Critics Choice Awards on June 19, co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed details on the Freak Show role of AHS newcomer Michael Chiklis.

We already knew that the 50-year-old actor — best known for his Emmy-winning stint on The Shield — would be playing the father of Even Peters's character and the ex-husband of Kathy Bates's, but now we know that he'll be married to Angela Bassett's.

His character's wives and son are all performers in the 1950s-era freak show run by Jessica Lange's character in Jupiter, FL.

"He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates," Ryan hypes to TVLine. "I love the part because it's really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well — the strong man who's vulnerable. I'm very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he's really up for it, really excited about it."

Meanwhile, we know that Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy will also play "unusuals" — with Sarah taking on the dual role of conjoined twins— and Denis O'Hare will portray a "collector of freaks."

Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, and Jamie Brewer are also on deck to return for Freak Show in yet-unrevealed roles.

Can't wait to see the freaky drama unfold!
