Jon Snow Is Officially the Most Murderous ‘Game of Thrones’ Character

You’d think the most murderous Game of Thrones characters would be one of the HBO hit’s villains — like Cersei Lannister or Ramsay Bolton, right? Not Jon Snow, surely!

And yet our newly-crowned King of the North has taken the most lives, according to a new data analysis.

The statistics come from Game of Thrones superfan Luuk Van Hoomissen, who created “the Visualization of Murders in Game of Thrones” as a capstone project.

It was no small feat, either: Luuk had to pore over clips of the show and wiki articles to gather the data.

So how could Jon be the top killer? Does he mope people to death? Are his greasy locks coated in poison?

No, the reason he outranks the more dastardly characters is because Luuk only tallied the deaths of named characters.

If you’ll recall, Jon has offed characters like Orell, Qhorin Halfhand, Karl Tanner, Janos Slynt, Mance Rayder, Alliser Thorne, Olly, Marsh, and Yarwyck — the last four of whom he executed for their treasonous assassination of him after he inconveniently came back to life.

By contrast, Ramsey killed nine named folks, Cersei killed eight, and Daenerys and Arya have both killed seven.

If we’re talking the murders of unnamed characters, the dubious honor might have to go to ol’ Mad Queen Cersei after she blew up her enemies and a few other King’s Landing residents in the Great Sept blast at the end of Season 6.

But, of course, that data isn’t as easy to track — having vaporized in a green fireball, as it were.

In fact, the Lannisters are the most murderous of all the Great Houses, although they’ve only killed only one character more than House Stark.

Coming in third is House Targaryen, with half as many kills as the Starks.

Other fun but morbid facts: There are twice as many male killers on Game of Thrones than female ones, and of the 215 named characters, only 36 percent are still alive.

You bet that last stat will change once Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on Sunday, July 16 on HBO.
