Joe Dempsie Is in Belfast — So Is Gendry in ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7?
Eagle-eyed fans spotted Gendry portrayer Joe Dempsie getting off a plane in Belfast, the city that serves as production central for Game of Thrones.
Not only that, the 29-year-old Brit was really trying to go incognito — hiding under a hood and glaring at the cell phone photographer — which makes it seem like this visit to Northern Ireland is more than just a social call.
Gendry has been MIA since the Season 3 finale, the episode in which Ser Davos assisted his Dragonstone getaway.
As far as we know, the blacksmith has been trying to row to King’s Landing all this time, and Thrones fans have long wondered when (or if) we’d see him again.
“Think of the shape he’s in after rowing for four seasons,” co-showrunner David Benioff quipped earlier this summer on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.
One theorist even thought up a way Gendry could be integral to the final two seasons and to the living characters’ impending war with the White Walkers.
We’d take Gendry in any form — muscled, unmuscled, integral, or ancillary. Turn that frown upside down, Joe!
Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on HBO in Summer 2017.
