One of the most interesting plotlines on Game of Thrones this season has been the evolving relationship between Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. Star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime, told HBO in a recent interview: “[Brienne] reaffirms there’s a place for dignity... I think it reawakens something inside of him. He just knows she can be trusted.”

Anyone who’s been paying attention to the show this season has seen the way Brienne has changed Jaime, culminating in the climax of “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”, when Jaime shows his heroic side in a big way by jumping into the bear pit to rescue Brienne. “There are so many layers why it’s wrong, he acts,” Nikolaj reveals about the scene, “He just can’t stand that a woman who has so much dignity should be degraded that way.”

The Lannister family will be seeing a different Jaime Lannister than they’re used to when he finally returns to King’s Landing, and Nikolaj is excited to see how it plays out: “He’s been away from King’s Landing for a while and I can’t wait until he gets back because so much has changed... Now he’s at a point in his life where he’s reevaluating who he is.”

We sure can’t wait to see what Tywin and Cersei Lannister’s impressions are of the new and improved Jaime... or what what they think of his new BFF, Brienne!
