The plotline for Game of Thrones preteen rage-monster, Arya Stark, is about to get a lot more interesting now that she’s traveling with The Hound. Arya has made no secret of her wish to kill Joffrey’s former dog, who murdered her friend, but The Hound has shown a soft spot for Stark girls in the past (well, at least one Stark girl), so the new duo should make for some pretty entertaining television.

Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya, told TV Guide about The Hound: “It's all kind of like a love-hate relationship. I think Arya kind of looks up to him in the way that he's got everything that she hasn't.” That’s an interesting take from Maisie, suggesting that something other than hatred towards The Hound resides in Arya.

Maisie also believes The Hound may be the only hope Arya has of being reunited with her family: “No one who she's with can really help her apart from The Hound... I don't know if he's going to help her anytime soon.” If The Hound truly is the only one who can help Arya, then it’s probably a bad idea for her to kill him. She tried once after his duel with Beric Dondarrion, but does she have it in her to try again? “I think she knows she wouldn't be able to kill him easily. I think maybe in her head she's thinking of different ways she could do it.” We briefly see one of those ways in the preview for Episode 8, “Second Sons”, when Arya is holding a large rock over the sleeping Hound’s head. Come on, Arya, you’ve got to be more creative than that!

So how does the Hound feel about Arya? Could she be his new “little bird”? “I think he kind of admires her a little bit for how determined she is,” reveals Maisie, “But he really is like, ‘Why are you making everything so hard for yourself? Why don't you just stop fighting me and let me take you home?’”

Will The Hound actually take Arya home, or will she kill him first? All we can say for sure is that anyone who thought Jaime and Brienne made for an odd pair hasn’t seen anything yet!
