Game of Thrones is a monster hit, and due to the size of its cast, a large number of actors are gaining worldwide notoriety. One of said actors is Joe Dempsie, who portrays Gendry, the bastard son of the late King Robert Baratheon. While Joe had already achieved fame in his home country of Britain for his role in E4’s Skins, the popularity of GoT has taken his fame to another level.

In a recent interview with the Official London Theatre, Joe talked about what it's like to be part of such a popular show.

"I went to Los Angeles last year and it was around the time the [Season 2] was starting, and the billboards are just everywhere," Joe said. "It’s bizarre, that feeling as an actor, at being in the mecca of the film world and seeing billboards for a TV show that you’re in pretty much everywhere."

Joe also discussed the fans he’s gained from being on the show, including one in particular who went above and beyond the usual  fan behavior."

"A girl from Denmark who initially sent a video to my agent of her just talking to her webcam asking me out on a date and it was very sweet and very nice," Joe dishes. "Another one arrived a week later, which was genuinely incredible. It was her sat at a piano playing the opening chords to a song she’d written, and as she started singing, this chorus of male backing singers — there must have been about 15 of them — rose from beneath the shot singing my name in the background. It was nuts!" Inspiring fans to write songs about you? Apparently there really is power in a king’s blood!

Even though Joe has gained fame and fans from his role on GoT, he says the biggest change the show has had on his life is more personal: "The main way it’s affected my life is the friends that I’ve made from it. The cast is so vast and there are actually loads of people who are a similar age to me that I now hang out with."

Aww. We love that the cast gets along!
