One of the best performances on the excellent third season of Game of Thrones belonged to Maisie Williams, who took Arya Stark on a journey we’re not soon to forget. From the Brotherhood Banners, to The Hound, to ambushing Freys, Arya’s been around the block this season.

It is due to the various letdowns and betrayals that have forsaken Arya recently that the character begins to evolve. Speaking to the Huffington Post, Maisie reveals, “I think we're going to see a darker side to her, and maybe not the honorable Stark that we know already. I think it's maybe going to start getting a bit more nasty and brutal from here on in.” More nasty and brutal than viciously stabbing a Frey in the neck? Yikes!

After the Red Wedding, which saw the murder of her mother and eldest brother, we see Arya at a crossroads, without a clear path on where to go from here. Regarding the character’s future, Maisie says, “I think now she's really put up this barrier and she's not willing to trust anyone fully anymore. And I think she really did struggle with that anyway, properly trusting people. She's really kind of kept herself to herself. I think now she's not really sure what she's going to do. She doesn't really have a goal anymore.” We think we know at least one goal of Arya’s: Revenge!

Finally, there’s been a lot of chatter from fans about Arya eventually hooking up with Gendry, but Maisie thinks ultimately they’ll be disappointed, stating, “If you want something to happen on the show, it almost certainly will not happen. It's always gonna go the other way. And personally, I also see Arya being on her own in the end and doing quite well... So I never really saw her being in love and whatever. I see her as a bit more of a killer and a fighter than that.”

So in other words, we can expect more a lot more stabbing than kissing from Arya in Season 4!
