Teal broke the news during an interview with Wales Online about his new play, Passion Play; he will be returning to GoT once the play ends. He says of Thorne, “He’s a ruthless sergeant major-type character. He’s a twisted character who’s been very damaged in the past. He’s great to play and there’s some fantastic dialogue.”

For those fans who need a refresher, Alliser Thorne is Master-at-Arms for the Night’s Watch, and he really hates Jon Snow. He hasn’t been seen on the show since Season 1, but fans will remember him as the surly man who was in charge of training the Watch’s new recruits (and commanding them to attack poor Sam).

Thorne also taunted Jon with the news of Ned Stark’s arrest for treason, which prompted Jon to attack him. After this incident, Lord Commander Mormont sent Thorne to King’s Landing to get help for the Watch, and he hasn’t been seen since. But now he’s coming back!

This is good news (or bad news, depending on how you look at it) for Jon Snow fans, since in the book series, Thorne is one of Jon’s main antagonists within the Night’s Watch, along with Janos Slynt. We don’t know if Slynt will be returning yet (he hasn’t been seen since Season 2), but either way, we think we have a pretty good idea of where Jon’s storyline is headed, based on the books. It's not fun for Jon, but it should be interesting for the viewers!
