Game of Thrones fans recognize actor Tobias Menzie as the oblivious and superficial Edmure Tully on HBO’s epic fantasy series. Some may even harbor ill will toward his character due to his (accidental) triggering of the Red Wedding. But what feelings does Tobias himself have about the bloody nuptials?

Tobias weighed in on the wedding to The Independent. “There was a moment of sadness but kind of excitement about it," he explained. "There was a feeling that they knew that they wanted to get it right.” Well, we knew that Edmure was excited about the wedding (hubba, hubba), but we’re shocked at Tobias’s anticipation!

Tobias also discussed viewing the scene, and he shares most of our opinions about its most drastic moment. “I think the pregnancy and his wife being there, I think are not in the books, so I thought that really ratcheted it up," he said. "You got a real sense of a promise of the future for them and then to have that cut down. Everybody talks about the stabbing of her pregnant belly as being the most gruesome moment of all. It’s powerful." Yeah, powerfully gruesome!

We know that Edmure survives the Red Wedding, and we know he’s being held captive by the Freys, but will he make an appearance next season? Tobias isn’t sure, saying of his potential return, “I’ve not heard anything. I don’t know what they’re planning.”

If he does make an appearance next season, let’s hope it’s a vengeful one. After all, the North will never forget!
