Game of Thrones fans knew that Khal Drogo was too powerful to stay gone forever, so we’re not too shocked to learn that Jason Momoa, who portrayed the mighty horse lord, is returning to television.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Momoa has joined the cast of Sundance Channel’s new drama, Red Road, which is the second original series for the network, following Rectify.

So, what's the show about? The Hollywood Reporter sums up up the plot like this: “A hard-hitting drama that revolves around a weathered sheriff struggling to keep his family together while policing two clashing communities: the folks in the small town in which he grew up and those in the neighboring Ramapo Mountains.” Jason is set to portray a member of the latter group, a Ramapo Indian named Philip.

According to the character details known at this time, Philip has a dubious history in the small town, including a suspected role in a classmate’s death while he was still in high school. After that tragic event, Philip fled the town, but now he’s coming back to set up shop at the behest of his father, who’s some kind of crime lord.

Sounds interesting to us, and it will be nice to see Momoa flex his acting muscles in what sounds like a complicated role. And, you know, we wouldn't complain if he flexed some of his literary muscles as well...
