As any fan of Game of Thrones knows, no character is safe. Main characters can die at a moment’s notice, no matter how popular they are amongst fans. So should we be worried about the fate of the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, in Season 4? The A Song of Ice and Fire book series provides the likely answer.

When we last saw Dany, she was being swarmed by a mob of slaves calling her “Mhysa,” which means “Mother.” Sers Jorah and Barristan were pretty cautious about letting her walk amongst the crowd, so will we find out next season that they had good reason to be?

We’ve seen attempts on Dany’s life before. There was the poisoned wine from one of Robert Baratheon’s assassins in Season 1, when she was saved by Ser Jorah. There was the time she was imprisoned in the House of the Undying by Pyat Pree in Season 2, when she debuted “dracarys” and her dragons set her free. Then there was the demon girl with manticore-filled ball in the first episode of Season 3, an attempt that was thwarted by Ser Barristan.

Clearly, there are a lot of people who want Dany dead, and those were all before she started conquering thousand year old slave cities. So next season has got to be the one where her enemies finally catch her off guard, right?

Not so fast. This is the Mother of Dragons we’re talking about here; she doesn’t go down so easily. Dany’s making a lot of enemies, and times are going to get rough, but our Khaleesi is a survivor, she’s gonna make it, she will survive.

Once she declares herself a queen in the east, a lot of practitioners of the old way of doing things (i.e. slave traders) aren’t going to be too excited about her “breaker of chains” reputation, and they’re going to start thinking war. Dany, however, has an army of Unsullied, a ton of devoted freedmen, and, oh yeah, dragons, so her response to the warmongers will basically be, “Come at me, bro.” Yeah, she’s going to be just fine next season.
