Game of Thrones Season 4 is nearly finished filming, and the spoilers from set are starting to trickle in. One of the more intriguing rumors we’ve heard so far comes from Jerome Flynn, who portrays sellsword and Tyrion-pal, Bronn. Flynn revealed at NYCC that he filmed a sword fight in Season 4 that was so intense his opponent was nearly injured. Bronn has no such fight in the books, so who is his adversary? Here are our best guesses.

The Mountain. In the books, Bronn is Tyrion’s first choice for his trial by combat against the Mountain. While Bronn refuses in the books, perhaps he tries to take the Mountain by surprise in the show before the trial? It wouldn’t be out of character for Bronn to try something shady like that, and it would make for an exciting scene.

The Red Viper. Once the Red Viper volunteers to represent Tyrion against the Mountain, Tyrion’s going to be suspicious of the newcomer's fighting ability. Perhaps he sends Bronn to test his mettle? It could be the last favor Bronn does for Tyrion, and with good reason, since the Red Viper will probably kick his ass.

Jaime Lannister. In the books, Jaime needs to learn to fight left-handed, so he begins sparring with Ilyn Payne. Sadly, the actor who plays Ilyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas this January, so will probably not return to the show. Maybe Jaime instead starts practicing with Bronn. This seems a bit farfetched, since Jaime picks Ser Illyn in the books because he can’t talk and therefore can’t tell anyone how much Jaime sucks at fighting now, but with Bronn the whole city would know within an hour of their first duel.

Brienne. We haven’t seen Jaime and Tyrion have their reunion yet, and in the books their meeting doesn’t go so well, with Jaime revealing the truth about Tyrion’s first wife (she wasn’t a whore, Tywin made Jaime lie about her). Perhaps when they meet on the show, things also get testy, and their respective bodyguards, Bronn for Tyrion and Brienne for Jaime, leap to their defense. If this is the case, let’s just hope they both make it out alive.
