As any fan of Game of Thrones knows, no character is safe. Main characters can die at a moment’s notice, no matter how popular they are amongst fans. So, should we be worried about the fate of Dany’s biggest supporter, Jorah Mormont, in Season 4? The A Song of Ice and Fire book series provides the likely answer.

When we last saw Ser Jorah, he was accompanying his beloved Khaleesi to the slave city of Yunkai, where Dany was greeted with open arms by a mob of adoring slaves whom she had just set free. So it should be clear sailing from here for Dany’s camp, Jorah included, right?

Not quite. As you probably noticed last season, Jorah isn’t very impressed with Dany’s new BFF Daario, and we only expect the animosity between the two men to grow next season. We also anticipate Dany finding out about Jorah spying on her for King Robert way back in the day, since chances are Barristan Selmy knows more information on that subject than he had previously shared with Jorah in Season 3. Will Jorah’s increasingly bad attitude coupled with the reveal of his prior treachery compel Dany to execute her right hand man?

Almost. If the show follows the books, Dany’s going to get so mad at Jorah that she’ll contemplate killing him, but ultimately will choose to exile him instead, with the caveat that should he ever show his face to her again then she will kill him. And so begins the next, very sad chapter of Ser Jorah’s journey. But hey, at least he doesn’t die.

Are you glad Jorah will make it to Season 5? Sound off in the comments!
