Game of Thrones fans know Joe Dempsie best as Arya Stark’s BFF, Gendry, but, much like on the show, there’s a lot going on under the surface. Here are five facts about Joe that even the most ardent GoT fan might not know.

1. A fan asked him out via video. Crazy as it sounds, it’s true. A Danish fan sent Joe’s agent a video of herself asking Joe for date, and then proceeded to send said video to everyone Joe interacted with on Twitter!

2. He’s had prior experience with GoT costars. While Gendry has yet to interact with either Littlefinger or Margaery Tyrell on the show, he has appeared on-screen alongside their respective actors. He acted with Natalie Dormer (Margaery) in The Fades and with Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) in Blitz.

3. He was involved in a best body contest. An informal one anyway. Joe tells Access Hollywood, “It got quite competitive on set — to the extent of complete body fascism on set. Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Richard Madden (Robb Stark) — we were all trying to get in the best shape possible.” We don’t hear anyone complaining.

4. He’s on Team Jon Snow. When it comes to who will end up with the Iron Throne, Joe tells Vulture, “For me, there’s something about Jon Snow and his arc, and I don't know his true parentage, but I have an idea — I really don't want to say who — and there’s something about the way it’s been set up that makes me think he’s destined for something really great. I envision Jon Snow ending up on the Iron Throne.”

5. Kanye West is his idol. When asked by Idol Magazine who his idol is, Joe says, Kanye West, I’ve seen him nine times live! The reasons are quite myriad ... I’ve always been into hip-hop from quite an early age I just feel like Kanye West, from day one when The College Dropout came out, has been someone who pushes the boundaries of the genre. Obviously he’s got a massive ego — in some respects — but I actually think he’s one of the least egotistical in that he’s not trying to blag anything, he’s an introspective rapper and I like that about him.”

So maybe we can expect a “Bound 2” parody video with Gendry and Arya on a horse? Stranger things have happened...
