For anyone who’s ever wondered what it would be like to roam the countryside of Westeros and becoming embroiled in medieval political scandals, you’re in luck: A Game of Thrones video game is coming.

Telltale Games confirmed via Twitter that they will be producing a game based on the popular HBO fantasy series, due out some time next year. They say new game will be episodic, much like Telltale’s Walking Dead game, which consists of two “seasons” so far, Each "season" is made up of five playable episodes, with episodes being released one at a time, four to six weeks apart from each other.

At this point we don't know what characters the Game of Thrones game will feature. The Walking Dead game stars new characters rather than ones from the show. The Game of Thrones game could follow a similar model, though that seems harder to pull off in the world of Westeros, where the specific characters are arguably more central to the story than those of the Walking Dead. After all, the epic fantasy deals with specific rival families fighting for control of a kingdom rather than surviving humans trying to make a life for themselves in a zombie apocalypse.

Though there’s no release date set for the new game yet, Telltale says it will arrive sometime in 2014, so start limbering up those thumbs now!
