Winter is coming... but not until April. That's right, ladies and gents: HBO has finally announced that Game of Thrones Season 4 will premiere April 6, 2014. So mark your calendars, and start counting down the days.

Game of Thrones will return to its normal Sunday 9 p.m. slot on HBO, followed by Veep at 10 p.m. and new comedy Silicon Valley at 10:30. While we're a little disappointed that we have to wait all the way until April for the first episode — since Season 3 premiered at the very end of March and we were hoping for a repeat of that luck —  we're glad that at least now we know what day to look forward to.

So, what can you expect when we return to Westeros? Well, we don't want to give too much away for those of you who haven’t read the books, so we'll just point you in the direction of our show-only spoilers roundup. If you want more intel based on the books, we've got an overview of what the season will probably contain here, and you can get all sorts of book spoilers here.

As for what to do with the next few months — well, if re-watching Seasons 1-3 doesn’t cut it, then maybe you would enjoy some of the other shows we recommend for Game of Thrones fans.

Are you excited for the new season, or just sad you still have so long to wait?
