"Major character deaths" has become as synonymous with "HBO drama" as "nudity" and "cursing," and Game of Thrones is constantly pushing the boundaries with which characters it's willing to kill. Season 1 climaxed with the show's ostensible protagonist, Ned Stark, losing his head, and then, of course, there was the bloody Red Wedding in Season 3, which left many fans in total shock.

So, what about Season 4? Can we expect the show's body count to rise dramatically, again? Actor Kit Harington (Jon Snow) recently teased the answer.

"There's a lot of death this season," Kit told Access Hollywood while at the 2014 SAG Awards. "I [can’t wait] to see [which actor] nailed their death this season.”

Well, there you have it: Yes, there is a lot of death this season. Is anyone really surprised?

Of course, just because there's death doesn't mean there will be a scene as traumatic as the Red Wedding. According to actress Maisie Williams (Arya), instead of having a single big, iconic moment near the end of the season, this season is going to have more big moments scattered throughout. On one hand, this might be cause for concern. On the other hand, the show couldn't have something as extreme as the Red Wedding happen every few episodes, could it? There's only so much an audience can take!

For show viewers who want some book spoilers, or book readers who need a refresher, we have a rundown of who's likely to die this season, based on the books, here. But remember, that article is super spoilery, so if you prefer to approach the show Jon Snow-style and know nothing, it's better to stay away.

Who do you hope dies this season? Which characters are you pulling for to stay alive? Sound off in the comments below!
