On Game of Thrones, Kit Harington portrays bastard and Night’s Watch member Jon Snow, who has become one of the show’s most popular characters and turned Kit into a budding film star. So what does Kit think of the fans of the show who’ve helped him achieve such success?

In an interview with On the Red Carpet, Kit credits the show’s fans for the its staying power, saying, “If [the fans] start going away, we’ll be in trouble. But I love it, the minute Thrones became what it was, or became as popular as it was, my life did change and it was amazing.”

Kit goes on to explain just how integral fans of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series were to the show’s success. The actor says, “They were the fans of the books before we even started the show, and because there was that already established fan base of the books, when the show came on they told their friends, ‘I’ve been reading these books, now you’ve gotta see this show,’ and that’s how word of mouth spreads a TV show. And I think the power of word of mouth in making something like this popular can never be underestimated.”

Aww, thanks Kit! We heart you, too!
