In each of Game of Thrones' first three seasons, Episode 9 has served as the climax; the culmination of everything we had witnessed all season long. In Season 1, the ninth episode was “Baelor,” in which Ned Stark lost his head. In Season 2 it was “Blackwater,” where we beared witness to the epic failed invasion of King’s Landing by Stannis Baratheon. And in Season 3, it was “The Rains of Castamere,” which featured the now infamous Red Wedding. So heading into Season 4, should we expect another Episode 9 shocker?

According to John Bradley, who portrays Samwell Tarly on the show, we’re not just looking at one epic episode half the season could be considered Episode 9-level! John tells Zap2it,

There's so many really accomplished brilliant pieces of heart-stopping action that I think [fans are] going to be kind of exhausted by the end of it just with the sheer amount of high-octane, huge events and huge sequences and lots of lots of action — more than we've ever put in it before ... I think you're looking at four to five episodes that could easily stand as centerpieces to any other season that we've done so far.”

John also implies that one of those epic episodes could happen very early on, “There's usually lots of chat and lots of setup and lots of exposition in Episodes 1 and 2 that blossom into fruition later on as the season reaches its action climax. But the action really does hit the ground running in this season,” John says. “There's no kind of easing into it. You're right into the thick of it straight away, and I think that's going to catch people off guard a little bit.”

Are you excited for all of the intensity Season 4 will bring, or is it going to be too much to handle? Sound off in the comments!
