Geez — remind us to never go to a wedding in Westeros. King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) finally met his end on Season 4, Episode 2, when his wine was poisoned during the feast of his wedding To Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer).

We can’t say we’re all that broken up about it, though. In fact, if anything, Joffrey’s death seemed like a far more humane one than he deserved, especially when you think back to the assassinations of the far less crazy and evil Starks who perished at the Red Wedding.

Of course the death is great news for most of King’s Landing, except of course for Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Sansa (Sophie Turner). As if those two haven’t been through enough, Cersei (Lena Headey) is convinced that her brother is responsible for slaying her son.

Tyrion certainly had enough reasons — though really, at this point, it makes more sense to count the people who didn’t seek to gain from his death. After Joffrey’s repeated humiliations of his uncle, who would blame him? That said, we have a sneaking suspicion someone else is behind this assassination.

Were you surprised to see Joffrey meet his end at the wedding, or have you been counting down the days?
