Sadly, the man responsible for directing the latest wedding on Game of Thrones is ending his own marriage.
It's unfortunate news from a director currently doing great work on GoT. Alex directed both Season 4's recent "The Lion and the Rose" (Purple Wedding) and last week's Episode 3, "Breaker of Chains." He is also credited as director on the upcoming Episode 8, "The Mountain and the Viper," and the finale, Episode 10, "The Children."
He also directed past GoT episodes "And Now His Watch is Ended" and "Kissed by Fire." Alex's distinguished career goes beyond the HBO show; he was a co-executive producer of The West Wing, and directed several episodes of that show. He's also helmed multiple episodes of Ally McBeal, Sports Night, The Practice, The Nine, and Journeyman.
Alex recently teased GoT Season 4 drama to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, Episode 3 would be “an aftermath episode, where you settle and everything takes a turn toward the second half of the season. Joffrey's death is a beginning. Ned Stark's death was not an end -- it was a beginning. It's when the show began. All the deaths are like that, and Joffrey's is no different. Joffrey's death affects the show through to the climax."
Season 4, Episode 4, “Oathkeeper,” airs this Sunday, April 27 on HBO. Read more details here.
