In each of Game of Thrones’ first three seasons, Episode 9 has been the “big episode,” the one that serves as the season’s climax while the actual season finale in episode 10 typically ties everything up and prepares the viewer for the following season. Previous ninth episodes have featured Ned Stark’s beheading, the Battle of Blackwater, and the Red Wedding, and now we have learned the title for Season 4, Episode 9: “The Watchers on the Wall”.

“Watchers on the Wall” is of course another name for the Night’s Watch, so we’re guessing they will be the main focus of this episode. Given this season’s build up to the threat posed by Mance Rayder, and the history of big events occurring in Episode 9, our guess is that this episode features a battle between the Watch and the Wildlings.

There are lots of potential big moments in such a battle that would get people talking. Will we be getting a Jon Snow/Ygritte reunion? Will the Wall come down? Will there be giants? What about White Walkers, or everyone’s new favorite, baby White Walkers? This episode seems to have a lot of potential, and given the show’s sterling history of episode nines, we think it’s safe to get excited.
