Court is in session this Sunday on HBO. Game of ThronesMay 11 episode, “The Laws of God and Men,” marks the start of Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) trial in King’s Landing.

It’s a dark twist on Mother’s Day seeing as the matter at hand is the murder of King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) with Joff’s own mother, Tyrion’s sister Cersei (Lena Headey), convinced her baby brother killed her son. There’s a lot riding on the trial — no more Tyrion?! — so HBO, consider our expectations raised.

Episode director Alik Sakharov promises to deliver come Sunday. “Peter Dinklage is phenomenal during the trial,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “He is just an incredible star and shines through.”

No need to convince us of Peter’s megawatt talent, but the fact his own director praises him so highly is a good sign that “The Laws of God and Men” will be one of Season 4’s standout installments.

“The scenes associated with a trial are magnificent,” Alik continues. “We were able to get some phenomenal performances.”

Magnificent? Phenomenal? The jury’s in and the verdict’s all for “The Laws of God and Men.”

Want to know what the verdict is? We’ve got spoilers galore but don’t blame us if you feel guilty later!
