In Game of Thrones, Season 4, Episode 7, “Mockingbird,” Littlefinger did something unexpected, and far more active than most of his actions, when he killed Lysa Arryn. Killing the Lady of the Vale right after marrying her certainly isn’t going to look good, so what’s going to happen to Lord Baelish?

In the books, there is one more person in the room when Littlefinger shoves Lysa out the moon door. The singer Marillion had been entertaining Lysa at the Vale ever since Cat Stark brought him there when she showed up with Tyrion, and Littlefinger is able to pin the crime on him. But the show went a different route with the singer. Marillion had his tongue ripped out by Joffrey for singing a slanderous song about King Robert in Season 1 and we haven’t seen him since. So what’s Littlefinger to do?

We’re guessing that Sansa’s going to cover for Littlefinger, and they’ll both claim Lysa’s death was an accident. In the books, some of the Lords of the Vale, such as Bronze Yohn Royce, are against Littlefinger, while Littlefinger is able to sway the opinions of others, like Lady Anya Waynwood. Both of these characters are scheduled to appear in Season 4, so it’s likely we’ll meet them in the next episode when they’re deciding what to do with Littlefinger.

But don’t worry about Petyr, he’s super sly and has gotten away with every other murder he’s orchestrated, so why end his streak now? Littlefinger will become the tentative Lord Protector of the Vale, much to the chagrin of some of his liege lords.
