Ready to see another new side of Westeros (or maybe Essos)? It sounds like Game of Thrones's already epic world is going to expand even more in Season 5, with the probable addition of Spain as a filming location.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the show has been "scouting locations in the Andalucia region of the country and is deep in talks with a local film commission." Sounds to us like the show is serious about adding Spain to its roster!
So far, there's no official news about what Game of Thrones locale Spain would be used to represent. However, George R. R. Martin has said that Dorne — the area the Martells hail from — is inspired by Moorish Spain, so it would make sense that the show would go to the source if there are scenes set in Dorne next season.
If this does work out, Spain will be the seventh country used in the filming of Game of Thrones. Other locations have included Belfast, Croatia, Iceland, Morocco, Malta, and even the United States.
What location do you think Andalucia would represent? Let us know in the comments below!
