Game of Thrones Season 4, Episode 8, “The Mountain and the Viper” featured one of the series most-anticipated scenes to date, the duel between “the Mountain," Gregor Clegane (Thor Bjornsson), and “the Viper," Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal). But was it everything you wanted it to be?

For readers of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, upon which GoT is based, the fight was pretty faithful to its source material. We got Oberyn being a cocky badass with a spear, we got his oft-repeated mantra, “You raped her! You murdered her! You killed her children!” And we, unfortunately, got the Mountain’s confession as he shattered Oberyn’s teeth, gouged out his eyes, and crushed his head with a “sickening crunch.” Ellaria Sand's (Indira Varma) blood-curdling scream was also ruthlessly on point.

Having said that, the show may have made the scene even more grotesque than the books. We probably could have done without seeing Oberyn’s wreck of a face twice. Additionally, the Mountain casually tripping Oberyn seemed a little more lame to us than the book’s description of him grabbing Oberyn’s leg in his massive hand and then pulling him on top of him.

For those who hadn’t read the books, we’re guessing they found the fight to be quite thrilling — until the end, which likely induced Red Wedding-like reactions.

What do you think, did the fight live up to your expectations?
