Time for a nerdgasm! Game of Thrones fan fave and future Hunger Games star Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) is about to add another important role to her geek-friendly resume: a part in the new Star Wars film.
The official Star Wars site broke the news, saying simply that Gwendoline has been "cast in the production [of Star Wars: Episode VII]," along with 12 Years a Slave breakout sensation Lupita Nyong'o.
So far, there's no info on what part either actress will play, but we hardly care. Both women have proved that they are compelling performers capable of a wide range; we're sure they'll rock whatever roles they've been cast in.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy commented on the casting, saying, "I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."
Gwendoline isn't the only familiar face from TV set to make their mark in the newest installment of this classic franchise. Girls star Adam Driver will bring his particular blend of creepy and compelling to the table as the movie's villain, you may know John Boyega from the new 24 mini-series, and, of course, director J.J. Abrams was known for TV shows like Felicity, Alias, and Lost before he started focusing on making movies.
